Welcome to the fourth instalment of our Seminal Cinema series, where we hit up longboarders from around the world to ask about the surf movies that shaped them. Consider it a great way to stack up your ‘watch later’ list with timeless classics and to learn more about the influential loggers whose lives they shaped.

Today, our guest is Rachael Tilly. Born and bred in California, she shot to fame in 2015, when she became the youngest-ever surfing world champion. Since then, she’s lodged herself firmly in the world title conversation through each of the Longboard Tours many iterations, finishing inside the top ten every year that she’s competed. Outside of her competitive successes, she’s picked up a degree from Bond Uni on the Gold Coast where she now resides, completed an internship at the WSL and launched her own podcast, The Double Up. Along with co-host Shanon Hughes, it focuses entirely on women’s surfing with news, analysis and deep-dive interviews.
