Welcome to the third instalment of our Seminal Cinema series, where we hit up longboarders from around the world to ask about the surf movies that shaped them. Consider it a great way to stack up your ‘watch later’ list with timeless classics and to learn more about the influential loggers whose lives they shaped.

Today, our guest is Kassia Meador. If you were to conduct a poll on the most influential female longboarders of all time, Kassia’s name would surely rank right at the top of the list. Her rapid ascent to icon status began almost the minute she stepped foot on a mal in the late 1990s. First, thanks to a section in Thomas Campbell’s The Seedling and later with a starring role in the Roxy roster – a driving force behind the female surf explosion of the new Millenium. Since then she’s won numerous events, launched her own brand, Kassia + Surf, and worked to promote greater inclusion within surfing. Through all this and more, she’s elevated the status of women’s longboarding in global surf culture, opening the door for the next generation to build their own glittering professional careers.
